Throughout Macao’s development, Shun Tak Group has been dedicated to building transportation networks connecting the Greater Bay Area. Looking back before Macao’s return to the motherland, ferry services were the main means between Hong Kong and Macao. Each trip carried not just passengers, but also families’ hopes for reunion, business travellers’ need for efficiency, and tourists’ enthusiasm for visiting Macao. Therefore, the Group has always prioritized the needs of travellers in its services.
There was a time, on Lunar New Year’s Eve, we made every effort to ensure that every passenger could return home in time for family reunions and enjoy the festivities. TurboJET specially increased its frequency to every five minutes. Although our colleagues were extremely busy, everyone understood that our work was to provide convenience to travellers. Seeing the smiles on passengers’ faces was our greatest reward.
Transportation facilitates the flow of people and goods, serving as the lifeblood of urban development. The Group strategically merged its shipping operation with that of China Travel International Investment Hong Kong Limited to create the “TurboJET” brand, becoming one of the first Hong Kong enterprises to partner with a state-owned enterprise. We also pioneered the introduction of hydrofoils, transforming the previously bumpy sea journey into a comfortable and speedy ride. With over 500 million passengers carried over the past 6 decades, our deep bond with the people of Macao is evident. The Group and Macao are united in purpose, making TurboJET one of the largest cross-border high-speed vessel fleets in the world.
Over the past 60 years, Shun Tak has focused on regional development needs, gradually establishing a multimodal transportation platform for sea, land, and air. In 2003, we collaborated with Hong Kong International Airport to develop the SkyPier Terminal, becoming a pioneer in sea-air transfer services and connecting the Greater Bay Area ports with the airport, laying a solid foundation for connectivity in the region.
With the vigorous development of the Greater Bay Area, the Group continues to innovate its service model, strengthening connections between various cities within the region. In recent years, we have expanded our cross-border transportation portfolio with strategic investments in various initiatives, including the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao (“HZM”) Bridge shuttle buses (Golden Bus), as well as diverse offerings like “TurboJET Cross Border Limo”, “HK-MO Express”, “Macau HK Airport Direct”.
Through 25 years of shared journey, Shun Tak Group remains true to its original mission, contributing to the prosperous development of Macao. Looking ahead, we will continue our “Tourism+” development strategy, aligning with national plans and seizing opportunities from favourable policies for Macao to innovate and create richer cross-industry cultural and tourism experiences, and promote closer integration and development between Macao and the motherland.
